Confirm backups

I am a bit concerned that the ontape -s backups I am running are infact good
backups. How can a backup be confirmed to be a quality restorable backup?

IDS 7.3x comes with archecker which is a utility that can verify an
archive for internal consistency to make sure that nothing needed to
have a successful restore is missing. It verifies system reserved
pages and bitmaps and makes sure that every page indicated on a bitmap
as being in use is present on the archive. Instructions are contained
in the release notes. If you have an earlier version then archecker
is available from tech support.

My apologies, I have not had need to use archecker since the original
versions. The last thing I was told, by Informix, was that archecker was
going to be fully supported in 7.31, though the need for it is less in that
version since most of the verification checking that it does is now part of
ontape and onbar and the onarchive thread that serves them and that the docs
would be included in a few lines in the release notes. I did not check and
just assumed the instructions would be there where I was told they would be.
Looks like someone second guessed my sources or forgot.
The executable is there and I believe it is not key coded, as the original
versions were, so you do not need tech support just instructions.
Apparently the documentation is included in the IDS.2000 docs online in the
Backup and Restore Guide.
