RE: TRUNCATE Table - DROP STORAGE

Ann, You cannot change the size of existing extents. Since the table is truncated you can drop it and recreate it with the desired initial extent size. My understanding is.... "TRUNCATE my_table DROP STORAGE" .... ... All the data is removed. And keeps only the "First extent" size and location.... What is the best process to "alter" the "First extent" size as well as all data dropped? In the future, will it be possible to alter (increase/decrease) the First extent size with the TRUNCATE utility? (example: "TRUNCATE... DROP STORAGE and FIRST EXTENT sizehere"?) My goal is to "Resize" the table so that newly loaded data all fits in the First extent. Is there a way to alter the primary quantity (the First extent size) of a table without Deleting the table? DB2 has: (ALTER tablespacehere PRIQTY sizehere;) Then, size is allocated with a reorg or load. And, if an empty table with a new first extent size is desired... ...the table gets loaded with a null file (LOAD REPLACE nullfilename INTO tablenamehere;). sending to informix-list sending to informix-list
