On the bright side, everything worked out in the end, and many of the people we dealt with were knowledgeable, courteous and helpful (technical support). On the dark side were a few who were less helpful like not wanting to do anything out of the ordinary (customer service). And how many times do you have to answer the question "What type of media can you accept?" We said "anything/everything" at least 10 times among the conversations. To be fair, we did create some of the problem ourselves when we didn't make sure that the salesperson's summary of our system was correct when we purchased, but we had no idea how particular they were about operating system release level and such. We were also dissapointed that the version we received originally was not the latest version, and that it wasn't until we were trying to get help with a bug that they agreed to send us the latest version. Go figure. Since everything worked out in the end and since my experience in general with vendors has resigned me to lower expectations, I would rate Informix support as Fair to Good. -- I am not an officer of my company.
