Neil,
There is at least one reason why subsequent attempts to 'dbimport'
without re-initializing the server with 'oninit -i' is slower
the first one:
when Informix engine is using pages that were 'clean' it is
not trying to put images in the physical log. Moreover, it
doesn't even need to read the page from disk before updating it.
What is really strange, is 'update statistics' slowness.
One possible reason is that indexes became mo fragmented...
Did you drop the database before re-import or just renamed it?
Did you make 'oninit -i'?
