There was a memory leak problem in PREPARE/FREE in early 5.0x versions of ESQL. Also you REALLY should upgrade to an ESQL 7.xx version appropriate to your engine. ESQL 5.0x compiled code uses the SQL Remote Module to connect to a 7.xx engine and this will not execute as fast as native ESQL 7.xx compiled code. Also let me suggest that you upgrade to a 7.2x release of Informix Online, 7.10 was VERY buggy. Art S. Kagel
