Informix bin files ownership

Hi We had a tough time. For some reason, the complete Informix directory (incl. all binary files) the file ownership was changed to informix:informix, due to that we could not connect to database and were getting an error -951. We had called Informix Support and they found out the file ownership was changed. According to them, Some informix files must have an ownership root:informix. We were even asked to reinstall Informix engine. Anyhow, it worked once the binary files ownership was changed. But I really don't know what should be ownership for other files. I would like to know, if somebody has developed any script, which can change the Informix files ownership as default set by Informix. Shall be highly grateful for any help. Thanks in advance. To add a little further, here are the text files which come with informix and contain the actual group/owner/permission info. The files are in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory. We never bothered to develop a script to set these... hurricane:/disk1/informix/etc > ls -l *files* -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 67747 Mar 3 16:20 IDSfiles -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 23355 Dec 3 1998 esqlfiles -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 106361 Dec 14 1998 fglfiles -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 2549 Mar 10 1998 ieccfiles -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 81989 Dec 14 1998 sqlfiles Muhammad Usman wrote in message <7pdc3d$sc74@news.emirates.net.ae>... >Hi > >We had a tough time. Here are my scripts. The shell script must be run by root and it will in turn invoke the awk script. Put both scripts in your path and make them executable: "Muhammad Usman" wrote: > > Hi > > We had a tough time. Under the DBA section, check out utils_jl, and the ixchkperm and ixsetperm scripts. > hurricane:/disk1/informix/etc > ls -l *files* > -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 67747 Mar 3 16:20 IDSfiles > -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 23355 Dec 3 1998 esqlfiles > -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 106361 Dec 14 1998 fglfiles > -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 2549 Mar 10 1998 ieccfiles > -rw-r--r-- 1 informix informix 81989 Dec 14 1998 sqlfiles > > Muhammad Usman wrote in message <7pdc3d$sc74@news.emirates.net.ae>... > >We had a tough time. I use them both a lot. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
