enable_sm_wa

Hi When I bot the solaris server with informix there comes the message: sorry, variable 'enable_sm_wa' is not defined in the 'kernel' Does anybody know what this means ?? Thanks
I always used to notice it when I worked on Solaris. My assumption was that the release notes are inaccurate, and I'm not aware of ever having had any problems as a result of disregarding the message. You probably have set enable_sm_wa=1 in your /etc/system file. Andreas Lommel wrote: > Hi > When I bot the solaris server with informix there comes the message: > sorry, variable 'enable_sm_wa' is not defined in the 'kernel' > Does anybody know what this means ?? > Thanks

It means you aren't using Solaris 2.4, where it meant 'enable shared memory workaround'. It was still valid in 2.5.1; it is not valid in 2.6 or 2.7 (Solaris 7). So, you can remove the line from /etc/system which includes that reference. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h> PS: It would have been helpful if you'd mentioned which platform you are working on, and which version of the software you're using.

Excuse me, but I am using Universal Server (IDS/UDO) version 9.14 on a SUN SPARCstation5 with Solaris 2.5.1 and I also get the error message regarding 'enable_sm_wa'. So I think it's also not valid for Solaris 2.5.1 Cheers, Avi. -- /\\ \\ /| Avi Abrami, Analyst/Programmer, Telegate Ltd. /__\\ \\ / | 7 Haplada Street, Or-Yehuda, ISRAEL / \\ \\/ | Phone:+972-3-5388717 Fax:+972-3-5335877 eMail:avia@telegate.co.il
