Redhat has the glibc libraries but the ESQL/C was created with the older libc5 libraries. You need to get the older libraries onto your machine, or add -lcrypt to the command line, possibly by editing (a copy of) the esql script. Beware, using the glibc (aka libc6) libraries is definitely not supported. We expect to release a glibc version of the software sometime in the not too distant future. Also note that there have been discussions of this issue in the Linux corner of the IDN web site -- see my signature -- as well as in other fora (forums?).
