RE: Installing Informix Online (Solaris 2.5.1)

Hi Jason ! The first error, means that you actually have not checked the release notes for your informix product. It is located in the $INFORMIXDIR/release directory. Check out the file ONLINE_7.x , You will find there information about Kernel Parameters for your solaris when the port was made. The Second error means that the RESIDENT portion of the shared memory is already in memory, you can check it out with the unix command ipcs , but anyway, do not worry about this error, Once you have resolved the first one. How To configure Kernel Paremeters in Solaris 2.5.x As root, manually edit the file /etc/system , to add the initial configuration recommended in the release notes, and then execute the unix command reboot -r , and then try to start DSA up again. Question is, under a out-of-the-box system, which changes do I need to make and how do I got about making them? Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. I'm not exactly a proficient sysadmin for Solaris and we're not sure we'll use Informix yet so it isn't worth big problems if that is what I'm going to face.
