Pete, There is no native way of encrypting and decrypting character strings that I know of. You will need to write a pair of "c" functions and build these into you application (you do not say what language you are using). One function to call the crypt() with the string you want encrypted, and one to do a strcmp() of two encrypted strings; there is no inverse of crypt(). You will need the latter to match login attempts with the encrypted password. Regards, Pete.
