Art/OTC No apology needed, but thanks. Actually I did just rename some pdf docs when I was re-learning SE on linux, when I downloaded some PDF files from the CD to my local disk and renamed them to more "meaningful" names. I was not even aware that you could cross-index documents with keywords, but at least now I know you can, although I still dont know how. I guess I will figure it out when I need to cross-ref docs with a keyword. And the idea of linking the files to meaningful names is really good. Thanks Sujit "Art S. Obnoxio, 15 years on IT and you missed the obvious. Leave the cryptic names but link (ln not ld ;-)) the cryptic filenames to normal filenames.
