We are planning to use Informix as a client-server database with access through ODBC drivers to Paradox. In order to do this we need to buy and Informix I-net license and and ODBC driver license for each user who will interface with the database via Paradox. The question is how many licenses we need to Informix itself if only the system administrator will access it directly on the Unix server? Another possible scenario is using Informix's new NewEra software. That requires a license for each usr as well. Again we can't seem to find out how many licenses of Informix itself we need. A third scenario has all users gonig to Informix through a third party product. Informix is only the database it uses for storing its Index data when doing searches. Here, there is only 1 true Informix accessor, the third party server software. There may be up to 50 users running the Windows interface to that product. Again, how many Informix licenses do we need?
