You better believe it. However, remember that the older tape drives did this as a matter of course; it isn't entirely fair to blame software for not knowing that the newer tape drives are "deficient." All in all, though, it would be nice to have a verify option, even if it *did* take much longer to create the tape by rewinding and re-reading the thing from scratch. It would also be nice to get on the silly tape mfgs and get them to fix the hardware. I've been stung, too, and a lot more times that I need to be. David
