Good Data Dictionaries? and INFORMIX 4GL/4GX

Hi there. My organization is running INFORMIX 4.1 SE with lots of tables with little documentation. Are there any third-party database dictionaries out there that do a good job cross-referencing and documenting? Secondly, we are looking at upgrading our systems to a MS-WINDOWS platform eventually. Has anyone used INFORMIX-4GX running on an X-Windows server on a PC platform? How smoothly does INFORMIX-4GX allow you to use existing character-based 4GL code?
