The following is for the US market... The objectives: 1) to communicate clearly the main points of Informix's new user based pricing structure 2) to dispel pricing myths 3) to take a proactive approach in communication with the financial community. The remainder of the message below outlines the final 6.0 price points, and an overview of policies that go with them. You will be receiving much more detailed information in the weeks to come. If you have questions, please feel free to call either myself or Lyn Huber to discuss further details. Below is the final 6.0 U.S. Pricing, some of which will be discussed with the analysts. Please note that there are some differences from the preliminary prices that were discussed in the DSA Launch Training. The OnLine and ESQL prices have increased since the November training. All prices are per user and are for 6.0 products only. For example, a customer may buy 101 runtime users for OnLine. In addition, we have established the following field guidelines: If you are selling to a customer who has a machine that is today classed as a C, D, or E you should be selling at the following levels: Development Runtime 5 20 If you are selling to a customer who has a machine that is today classed as a E, F, or G you should be selling at the following levels: Development Runtime 10 50 The 6.0 Data Replication policy is: 1) if the secondary machine is used as a hot standby site only payment is made for one license only. 2) if the secondary machine is used as a hot standby site with read-only users; payment is made for one license plus the extra read-only users 3) if the secondary machine is also used to create another instance of OnLine for read/write use; payment is made for two licenses
