Re: Using Memos in Windows

Just another small point on this. A long time ago I posted something on how to handle multiple windows without using open/display form and current window is... all over the place. If you (or someone else) can find it fine, but I don't have the time to repost it right now (I don't have that post it available any longer). The essence of it is to make a function that opens every window the first time it's called (with that window as a parameter) and simply do current window is ... if it's allready open. In this way you avoid the design error in 4GL where you have to open windows first. You can simply call the function to display any window as the current window. You avoide a series of problems this way, including window flickering. The design should obviously have been define window... and then a statement to display it (make it the current window) at any time. Of course there should also have been a way to display to and even do input from any window without making it the current window first. Without this you do get windows flicker when you have to display something to a background window, but I don't expect Informix to make such a change. We'll go to Java anyway. mrh@panix.com (Michael Hoffman) wrote: :This causes the screens to flip 3 times on the first opening of the second :screen, but after that everything works fine. :Michael Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
