DETERMINING INSERTED SERIAL VALUES

I think I may have seen this question posted and answered, I so sorry for the repost..... When you INSERT INTO a serial column, how do you determine what value the engine inserted? Is there any way to use sqlca.sqlerrd[?] to find this value ? Thanks in advance for options and advice .. Ken McCoy AR Public School Computer Net.
