online.log not being written to

Re: OnLine 5.03 running on Sun SPARC 10, SunOS 4.1.2 We had some trouble with permissions/ownership after a re-install, and tech support sent us a script "chpog" which is supposed to correct any faulty ownerships and permissions in INFORMIXDIR (however, the results of "chpog" are not guaranteed). We ran "chpog", and subsequently everything runs fine except one thing: online.log in INFORMIXDIR is not being updated. MSGPATH is set to $INFORMIXDIR/online.log. But strangely (to me), online.log is now owned by root with permissions -rw-rw-r-- . I thought maybe that was the problem? (root's group is "daemon"). But I was reluctant to chown this file to informix in case there's some obscure but good reason it should be owned by root. Advice? Mark Heinicke mheinick@Glue.umd.edu
