Re: SCO not recommended for high number of users.

My apologies for implying that SCO was not an OS of choice for large numbers of users. Next time I have (only) 100 users to support I'll consider it. :-) ... other interesting stuff gone with the delete key ... As for Informixs' presence in the small arena. They appear to want to treat PCs as clients - understandable given the pathetic characteristics of the common OS for these machines. (NewEra came out for that market first). OTOH with NT I hear a lot of talk on porting Online to that OS - not necessarily a PC OS I know, but not exactly running the Crays of the world yet. Finally if you consider that Informix has historically had an offering at the low-end level - one that works so well who would want to mess with it and consider that if anything Informix needs to be working at the top end where the money is. You may remember that until Phil took over (not necessarily that he was responsible for the change - just that it appears to have started about that time and he may in fact have had a great deal to do with it) Informix did not have a real presence at the top end. Aaaarghh - still trying to get my brain to work right - sorry for the meandering post. cheers j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, DMD/IS Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@hpbs3645.boi.hp.com <--- new address _____________________________________________________________________________ If anything can go wrong, fix it.
