Informix error -408?

} I am running Informix 5.x (online) on a Solaris 2.4 on Sun SPARCstation 20 } } 1. If informix is brought up from command line (after the machine has booted) } and our application run, then our applicatin comes up properly. } } 2. If it is run from /etc/rc3.d/<start_up_script>, which } brings up informix and then runs our application, we get cannot } connect to database infomix error -408 } } finderr says that the application and informix are not at same level? } } What is this? My need is to bring up informix as well as our applicatin } through rc script at startup. Any solutions? } } Thanks in advance } } nataraj } -- } ____________ } o/'Nataraj K.S } `-( nataraj@miel.mot.com } My guess is that you are starting OnLine as informix from the command line and as root from the rc script. This could generate the -408 error (which says "...a problem in the communication between the database server and the library functions that call it.") via a permissions conflict with the server and library functions. If this is the problem then the solution is to startup OnLine as informix, or give root the proper permissions on the informix files. Check your manuals for the startup procedure (a weak reference, which does not cover who you should be to start things, is on pg 1-56 of the "Administrator's Guide" v5.0), and release notes for O/S-specific concerns. That's my guess, anyway. Good luck!
