How to read distribution
Posted in 1996
I have SPARC Solaris Informix OnLine 7.1 distribution on the DAT media, but I cannot connect DAT tape drive to my SPARC because of cable differences. SPARC has only Exabyte drive. Instead I have DAT drive connected to SCO host and/or Linux host. When I try to read distribution tape using tar, cpio or dd, it looks like unreadable under SCO (zero-length file when using dd) or partially readable under Linux (random sequence of 1k blocks) How can I correctly read DAT tape in SCO or Linux to move its contents via NFS to SPARC? Must I write transferred data to the SPARC tape drive and install from tape - or I can install Informix from disk file? What is distribution format (tar, cpio, pkgadd, something else)? Help, please.
