Hallo Pete, it certainly depends on your sql statement which you didn't broadcast. But perhaps the order by had been done on a to large number of records. You might do a select into temp t1 without ordering an than do a select * from t1 with ordering being sure that the order by affects only the truly needed records. Klaus Nonne nsi001@aol.com
