onbar

Hi All,
I've encountered I/O error in informix and it needs a full-restore "onbar -r
-p". While performing restore, it encountered problem due to some network
issues. Is there a way the onbar command will start on the location it stopped?
This is to mininize the downtime of the DB and make it online as soon as
possible.
Thanks,
Hi,
yes. "onbar -RESTART" is the command.
But the prerequisite is that you already had
the onconfig parameter RESTARTABLE_RESTORE
set to the value ON before starting the first
attempt of restore (that got interrupted).
If you have not set this yet to ON, then this may be
a good time to set it for future restore attempts.
If it is not working correctly, i.e. restore still is not
restartable, then you are on a rather old version
of IDS.
Regards, Martin

Jack:
If you have enabled restartable restore feature in the oncnfig file it will
not re-do
any dbspaces which have completed, but re-start with the dbspaces that
were actively being restored when the interruption occurred.
Note restartable restore will also work with logical recovery.
RESTARTABLE_RESTORE ON
Just run onbar -RESTART

Great thanks.. Appreciated very much. I asked as my colleague told me that RMAN backup in oracle can do such things. Again, thank you.
