In SunOS5/Solaris 2 the libraries are shared. If they don't give you the libraries you ain't gonna run anything. It may be the case that they don't give you the headers but I believe that only the compiler itslef will be missing. Convex (I believe) are attempting to get GCC/GDB ready for SunOS5. A while back they were asking for 100 donations of $2000 to ensure they released it all at the same time as Sun release Solaris. Don't know the current state of play 'though.
