Ray, if your question relates simply to what default century Informix adds to date input when the format calls for 2 year digits, I don't have much to add to Jonathan's reply. However, after reading your question, I thought that perhaps you are unaware that Informix stores dates internally as the integer number of days since 12/31/1899. The input/output format for dates can be tailored somewhat by setting the environment variable DBDATE. If that was the intent of your question, then check out DBDATE in the manual. We also have some legacy systems here that use MM/DD/YY that will have to be converted. My favorite parts of it are reports that have output lines so packed that there aren't two free character positions, forcing us to redesign the report. As I think of the times that I have talked with various employers/clients about the need for 4-digit years as 2000 approaches, the reply that I have heard by far the most is, "Well, I'll be retired by then." And I wonder why my molars are perfectly flat. :-( Good luck, Walt. -- Walt Hultgren Internet: walt@rmy.emory.edu (IP 128.140.8.1) Emory University UUCP: {...,gatech,rutgers,uunet}!emory!rmy!walt 954 Gatewood Road, NE BITNET: walt@EMORY Atlanta, GA 30329 USA Voice: +1 404 727 0648
