Malcolm, This surprises me given Informix's recent much-publicised shift from indirect to direct sales, in the UK at any rate, canning two of their (three) UK distributors, in exact reverse to what the competition are doing. How can a shift to direct sales possibly work if they are going to turn their noses up at the smaller sites which are traditionally the bulk of their market?
