Hi, Long time no ask... :-) RedHat 6, IDS 7.3 LE, CSDK, GCC, D4GL 2.10 Problem: undefined reference to `_fxstat' No help from support. Actualy, they sugesst two things: Use 'old' C compiler (whatever that would be) and don't use RedHat 6. Any help very much appreciated. Perhaps Jonathan can help here, but the "no help" you decry above may be in fact exactly what you need. I don't know D4GL, but I'll bet it was ported against gcc with libc5 or Glibc 2.0.something; you are in turn throwing Glibc 2.1.1 and egcs at it. A possible solution would be to install the Red Hat 5.2 backward- compatibility packages for gcc and glibc (look in your RPM/SRPM driectory on your Red Hat 6.0 CD -- look for the names with "compat" in the middle of the name). Or, wait for D4GL 3.0. It was supposed to be FCS as of today, I think, and presumably it was ported with egcs and Glibc 2.0 or 2.1. Jonathan demoed it on S.u.S.E. 6.1 at LinuxWorld. -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com "I didn't expect that last one to lose his hair. Yes, that is the trouble. > A possible solution would be to install the Red Hat 5.2 backward- > compatibility packages for gcc and glibc (look in your RPM/SRPM > driectory on your Red Hat 6.0 CD -- look for the names with "compat" > in the middle of the name). This certainly should work. > Or, wait for D4GL 3.0. It was supposed to be FCS as of today, I > think, and presumably it was ported with egcs and Glibc 2.0 or > 2.1. Jonathan demoed it on S.u.S.E. 6.1 at LinuxWorld. Yes, D4GL 3.00 was due to release on Friday 13th; we decided not to in view of some problems. The new release date has not been set, but we hope it will be the end of August or early September. The 3.00 version will have 3 different Linux versions, one for libc5, one for glibc 2.0.x, and one for glibc 2.1.x; the Linux world is not making life easy, it would seem. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
