ace fields with blanks

I'm very new with ace so be gentle with me. I have a char[30] field that has company names with embedded spaces. When I enter the name with the space the named company is not found. If I enter the name with out the space, every thing is fine - but the users don't like it. Is there a way to pass in a string with an embedded blank? Frank
