The bug# is 14199. Apparently, the declare and describe statements allocate space which is not de-allocated by the free statement. The problem is in both 4.0 and 5.0. It is a minor problem in 4.X where cursors are static structures declared in the user's code, but an aggravated problem on 5.X where cursors are pointers to structures allocated by Informix functions (At least this is what I have deduced using a memory leak checker).
