Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I want to create a mirrored database using Informix ONLINE 5.0
on an IBM RS/6000 running AIX 3.2.5.
There are two ways to create this environment :
1. create a PRIMARY and MIRROR chunk and let Informix
perform the mirroring operations
2. create a mirrored logical volume and let AIX do the mirroring
I have used the first method in the past. However, I wonder if the
second approach would give better results.
What are the pros and cons of each method ?
Is one method more reliable than the other ?
Does one method result in better disk thoughput ?
Which approach would be faster/easier when recovering from a disk failure ?
Thanks in advance
Steve
