RAID is, on the whole, very bad for performance on write-intensive
systems. If you look at the section on Recommended Disk Placement in the
OnLine Administrator's Guide you'll soon realise that there's no way some
of the suggested *physical* arhitectures can be achieved in a RAID
environment.
