What is the easiest what to backup and restore to tape using `ontape` along
with encryption? Has anyone restored, having used encryption for the backup,
successfully and without incident?
Thank you.
Larry
Yes, you can do this using the BACKUP_FILTER and RESTORE_FILTER parameters
in the ONCONFIG file. We have tested this with compression and encryption
and it works. There were some problems using archecker with archives that
had been created using th BACKUP_FILTER in early 11.xx versions, but IB that
was fixed before 11.70 was released (haven't tested it since though).
Anyway the filter parameters are set to the path of a UNIX style filter
program that reads stdin and writes to stdout. The BACKUP_FILTER can do
anything to the data that passes through it as long as the RESTORE_FILTER
knows how to undo the changes.

For example, do you know what is available on a standard Solaris 10
installation? Or is there a package that we will need to install?
