I am trying to find out what the limit is on contiguous memory in
Solaris. Can I grab one segment of 20G, or will Solaris break the
segment down into smaller pieces ?
For example, if I run onstat -g seg, can I have one segment of 20G, or
is this not possible ?
I am using Solaris 9 and IDS 7.31 FD3 ...... 64bit

Hi,
On UNIX systems INFORMIX reserves memory in blocks( this is 8k each
one).
Your 20Gg of Memory are 20 Gb / 8Kb of contigous blocks. If you see
in your onstat -g seg one virtual value, there are one contiguos
Virtual segment. Otherwise, remember that INFORMIX manage a RESIDENT
portion, that is other memory segment, so at the end the minimun
segments in INFORMIX are one resident and one virtual.
regards.
