For IFMX GURU : ONTAPE RESTORE Q
Posted in 1998
O/S : Sun/Solaris 2.5.1
IDS : IDS 7.30
My database size is 6.5GB. Becuase of some reson i am
forced to use "ontape -s -L 0" on DISK. Since my
Solaris version deoes not support file size more than
2GB, i used pipe to archive my database as following
TAPEDEV pipename [onconfig parameter]
I made a small script which in fact use gzip in
asynchronous mode and use ontape command like
gzip -<pipename>destinationfile.gz
ontape -s -L o<<EOF
EOF
It worked for me. I was able to archive my database
in just 399mb[gzip worked great]. Now my problem is
to test restore from this zip file. i did following
1. decompress the file into multiple files of 2GB
each.
So i have total 4 files, last file less than 2GB,
total size 6.5GB
2. i set TAPEDEV pipename and on other screen i use
dd command or cat command. it gave me error
AIRTHMATIC EXPRESSION! Error no 4
My problems are following
1. Since i cannot have file size more than 2GB in
unix files sytem[Solaris 2.5.1 does not sipport], i
can not concatenate all the files into one file and
specify TAPEDEV parameter to that file and start
restore.
SOMEONE HELP ME THAT HOW CAN I DO RESTORE FROM 4
FILES OF 2GB EACH.
Thanks a ton!!!!!!!
Sanjeev
