Thanks Fuzzy. That makes sense. How would I prevent the users from using their regular user id. The ODBC driver prompts fr the userid and passwd when they link to the database. The INFORMIXSERVER is different in my case. Can I create permissions for user specific to each INFORMIXSERVER?

If you have control of the driver definition then you can define a user id and apssword and have that saved in the definition itself. However, the user could always go ahead and define a new data source without a user id and password. -- Rob Wilson rwilson@ntsource.com
