HDR : Primary et secondary OS Comptability ?
Answered: green (solid confidence) — First answer wrongly claimed HDR/RSS/SDS primary and secondary must run the same OS; Fernando Nunes and then Art Kagel correct this (only the same executable/architecture is required), and the asker thanks them and drops the AIX/Linux mix idea.

Hello, I red here (http://www.informix-dba.com/2010/08/informix-hdr-will-save-your-butt.html) that for HDR, primary and secondary servers can be on différents Opérating Systems, is there a compatibility matrix ? For my case i have a primary on AIX ans maybe a future one on Linux Red Hat Thanks in advance
NO , any HDR, primary, RSS, SDS CANNOT be on different operating systems. You can use all AIX or all HP-UX or all Linux or all SOLARIS, ... The IDS versions have to be the same. This is important when you do migrations. You have to stop your replication and migrate both servers. The hardware CAN be different in terms of capacity and resources: 8 GO of RAM on one box and 12 GO of RAM on another, 2 CPUs on one and 4 CPUs on another. With ER, you CAN have different OSs and different IDS versions. That's not what it says.... Andrew tells us that both servers must be running the same informix binary.... that's possible with different Linux servers but that's not the case between AIX and Linux.... That would be one of my pet feature requests ;) Regards Em 25/01/2014 10:36, "SMITH JOHN" <daylight@webmails.com> escreveu: > Hello, > I red here > (http://www.informix-dba.com/2010/08/informix-hdr-will-save-your-butt.html > ) > that for HDR, primary and secondary servers can be on différents Opérating > Systems, is there a compatibility matrix ? > > For my case i have a primary on AIX ans maybe a future one on Linux Red Hat > > Thanks in advance > > > > ******************************************************************************* > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. > > --047d7b66f5fb9c453204f0ca552b
John, I don't know where you got that idea. I just reread Andrew's post that you linked below, and he correctly and explicitly says that both the primary and secondary HDR and RSS servers have to be able to run the same executable. So, while the primary could be running RedHat Linux the secondary could be running Ubuntu Linux but they both have to be running on i86 compatible hardware. You could mix those Linux versions, you could even mix Intel and AMD processors, but you could not mix an x86/64 processor with an IBM Power7 processor, HP Itanium, or Oracle Sparc processor.
