I have read about @ even in the Informix-4GL by Example Ver 4.10 Manual (pg 622) where it is used to identify a column name of the table instead of a program variable with the same name. I started using this since 93-94 or so. I use it on SCO box. i really doubt if they are ignored by i4gl complier(s).
