There are utilities which attach direct to the main shared memory segments - ON-Stat being a representative - but that is different from using the shared memory *communications* segment that regular clients (like DB-Access or SQLCMD) use. There is, in fact, no requirement that you configure an olipcshm connection with your server -- it will work fine with just TCP connections (as a for instance; or just olipcstr, or any other connection type). Of course, the ON-* commands that connect to shared memory can only possibly be run on the machine where IDS is running. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/

They were not specific!.

They were not specific!. If you still have a case number around, send it to me or the Scottish Poet, and we'll see what can be found out, one way or another. However, speaking from my side of the Atlantic, my system runs on just oltlitcp connections quite happily. Shared memory connections are not necessary for me to run IDS. YMMV, as they say, but I'm curious to know why it Vs. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2007.0226 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
