If you are intending to use table fragmentation then make sure that you have at least double the amount of space available in the new dbspaces to build the tables. Version 7.1 requires a large overhead during the construction of the fragments. Other than that I found the process to be gratifyingly uneventful. The Migrating to DSA course run by Informix (Raj Murali) is well worth the money in my opinion. What level code are you running? If you move to 6.1 (4.13 codestring) there are issues to do with error trapping in construct statements, and display and prompt strings crashing programs if they are longer than the window they are displayed in. These are pretty well documented and if you are using 4.13 then you will already have covered them. > >One other , more generic question, this will be my first project >implementing multiple instances of INFORMIX On-Line. DSA has it's own context switching and now does nearly everything through shared memory. As a result you need a heap more shared memory but [it is claimed] overall memory usage is improved. Each instance will need it's own shared memory pool (IE, as if it was the only instance.). Memory is shared only within each instance. Good luck with your project. Regards
