I agree with your assertion: "Where Informix has ALWAYS failed is in advertising to management decision makers." If your kids would represent the crew who use the toys, and you represent management that writes the check, then I think we're in agreement. This is a two-fold component, partly advertising/marketing to technical people who will use the product, and partly advertising/marketing to the people who will write the check for the product. Somehow this is so apparently simple to do from my perspective, but in chats with certain folk at Informix they haven't a clue what to do. I'm no genius about what to do either, I simply recommend Informix follow the lead of the most successful companies out there and do what they do. And at least come up to the watermark and meet the checklist of things that other companies are doing, and do it soon before the company dies. Oh, Paul B., yes, I saw the Informix Developer's Network, another unadvertised new thing from Informix. Unfortunately since I'm not a datablade developer I couldn't get to much on the site besides the VB stuff as yet another damn password protected site appears on the horizon. The newsgroups set up also haven't been used much either, I can't imagine why. Doh! The IDN is also only featuring stuff for Data Director for Visual Basic, and nothing for Data Base Administration, ESQLC, or 4GL. Pity, tool and developer sites are really quite easy to set up, they almost need help to fail. It's a gem, you can visit IDN at: http://www.informix.com/idn/ :-) Tim Tim Schaefer tschaefe@mindspring.com http://www.inxutil.com ICQ:6358805 #include <vacuum.h>
