Been there done that - I'm going to assume you have the Informix 4gl
Run-Time libraries installed and you have just recently developed this
error.
Try the following :
- Check the .profile of the user receiving the error. The INFORMIXDIR
enviroment variable may have been set here and the export statement may have
been removed or commented out.
Or
- Check /etc/profile and see if INFORMIXDIR has been set as above. On our
systems, we do not set INFORMIXDIR in /etc/profile, but rather in each user
profile. This was a business decision and as far as I know, there should not
be a problem doing this.
In either case, you should see an entry as follows :
INFORMIXDIR=/path to your informix bin directoryexport INFORMIXDIR
This variable must be set for you binaries to run. If it is already set, see
my assumption above and contact your local informix vendor :-(
Alternatively, you get this message while trying to run one of these
binaries remotely via an rexec (heaven forbid ;-)) and redirecting the
output to a log. If this is the case then make sure you setup a shell script
which does (at the very least) the following :
INFORMIXDIR=/path to your informix bin directoryexport INFORMIXDIR
/path/name_of_application.4ge
Then the rexec should point to the shell script. This will set up a
temporary enviroment for you to run your application in.
Hope this helps.
