Re: sesoctcp for SE 7.22 UC2 on SCO

Ralph, please look into $INFORMIXDIR/release directory and they will tell you what type of "network api interface" on the server side is supported. For SCO UNIX it probably is setlitcp. On the Front end (your PC) you can set sesoctcp. You asked how can this arrangement work ? It works because the "low level" transport protocol on both the client and the server side is "tcp" . The sockets and tli are both high level interface API's to tcp and they both talk to the "same" transport protocol. I hope the following crude graph clarifies things for you. Good Luck, Saeed client side application server side database server | | sockets API tli API | | tcp/ip <------------------------------> tcp/ip In article <01bcac83$4c33fce0$33000059@ralph>, "Ralph Roef" <ralph.roef@cerm.be> wrote: >Hi, >Can anybody tell me if the sesoctcp protocol for sqlexecd is definitely out >of the question >on SE 7.22 UC2 SCO Unix ( protocol not supported ). >How do you then connect from a Windows platform with the informix supplied >ODBC >driver ( part of CLI ) which does not let you choose the supported >setlitcp protocol ? > >Thanks for any info on the subject > >Ralph >( ralph.roef@cerm.be)
