odbc connection on unix

Can anyone help me with this: We currently install a Sterling software named "GenTran" which is a kind of EDI software. It is running on Sun Solaris 2.6. Recently we want to upgrade GenTran from v4 to v5.1 because v5.1 is Y2K compliant. The backend database is Informix 7.22 and the middleware connection is through ODBC driver. From GenTran manual, we can either setup env variables necessary to connect to database in odbc.ini or in .profile. We tried, yet it pops up error messages like Opening .SQL file: /newres/gentran51/apps/db811imbl.SQL Initializing database access: Connect string: DSN=qeinf7; SRVR=cyclone_sen; UID=senuser; PWD=passgas1 Database connection failed. db811imbl.SQL is the test file and DSN is specified on the top of this file. The process get SRVR, UID, and PWD from .profile, i.e. from env variables. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
