Questions about variable-assignment

Hi ! Maybe it's a very easy question, if it is so, then I apologize me for your time. I work with the WebDataBlade (version 2.2.) and Illustra. Is there a possibility to make the assignments to variables permanent within a Web-Application or even within more than one successive Web-Application-Pages. Examples: the first output of $1 works, the second doesn't work <?MISQL SQL="SELECT salary from employees where ID=7777" > $1 <?/MISQL) <?MIVAR>first testoutput : $1 <?/MIVAR> <?MISQL SQL="UPDATE employees set fax=4567 where ID=7777" ><?/MISQL) <?MIVAR>second testoutput : $1 <?/MIVAR> this is the WebBrowser output first testoutput : 80000 second testoutput : NOVALUE (... $1 was cleared) And then I have another question concerning variables, is there a way to name the variables in a more expressiveness way than $1, $2, .. ? Okay, this work in the <? MIVAR NAME ...>-assignment but I think it doesn't work in the assignment after a SQL-SELECT. Examples: this works <?MIVAR NAME=test1>4711<?/MIVAR> in this case the variable test1 contains 4711 this doesn't work <?MISQL SQL="SELECT salary from employees where ID=7777" > $test1 <?/MISQL) in this case the variable test1 doesn't contain the result if $test1 is replaced with $1 then the assignment is okay. this is the WebBrowser output first testoutput : 4711 second testoutput : 4711 (... and this must be 80000) Thank you very much for your time Michael Dauber dauber@darmstadt.gmd.de
