Informix will run on NT (and apparently holds the current TPC benchmark record in that arena), but you can at least go to a real database server if you have to. Without wanting to rehash a recent thread in too much detail: NT is novice friendly and expert hostile, UNIX is vice-versa. But I can assure you that the same platform running MS-SQLS/NT or Informix/Unix will (almost) always give better performance under Informix/Unix. I say almost, because I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean it can't happen... :-) We just got a client up on Informix/NT and it runs well, but we nearly went insane trying to track some piddly IP lookup problem - it took a month to resolve. I've never had to spend more than 1 hour to get a full Unix/Informix client-server setup up and running. FWIW, YAMMV, etc. -- Ciao, Billy I'd be in favour of apathy, but I just couldn't be bothered...
