Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Karl Oliver, on IDS 11.50.FC6 HP-UX, added a server to an Enterprise Replication pair; the replicate showed Inactive and he asked about replicating between differently named databases. Madison Pruet reminded him to start the replicate on the new server; cdr start failed with 'participants required' (17). After deleting and redefining the replicate, then change and start, it worked.

Hoping someone can help please
I am trying to add a server to replication pair that already works fine
It appears to add ok as cdr list server shows
SERVER ID STATE STATUS QUEUE CONNECTION CHANGED
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ec_mafdata_dba_akl 51 Active Connected 0 Jul 4 14:39:17
ec_mafdata_dba_wlg 50 Active Connected 0 Jul 4 14:39:06
res_prod_rep_wlg 20 Active Local 0
res_prod_rep_wlg is the addtion and the instance resides on the same machines
as ec_mafdata_dba_wlg
cdr list rep shows 350 reps with STATE
REPLICATE: mafdata_people
STATE: ON:res_prod_rep_wlg
I try to add replicate mafdata_people using
following
cdr change replicate --add mafdata_people
"res_live@res_prod_rep_wlg:paqis.people" "select * from p
eople"
It appears to work but cdr list rep results in
DEFINED REPLICATES ATTRIBUTES
------------------------------
REPLICATE: mafdata_people
STATE: Inactive ON:res_prod_rep_wlg
CONFLICT: Timestamp
FREQUENCY: immediate
QUEUE SIZE: 0
PARTICIPANT: res_live:paqis.people
OPTIONS: transaction,ats,fullrow
REPLID: 3277341 / 0x32021d
REPLMODE: PRIMARY ON:res_prod_rep_wlg
APPLY-AS: INFORMIX ON:res_prod_rep_wlg
Can I replicate from one database to a datbase of a diffrent name.
I am trying to replicate from db mafdata to db res_live

Don't forget that you'll need to start the replicate on the new server.

tried starting
cdr start rep mafdata_people res_prod_rep_wlg
I get this when trying on
res_prod_rep_wlg
i get command failed -- participants required for operation specified (17)
also when trying on
ec_mafdata_dba_wlg
cdr start rep mafdata_people res_prod_rep_wlg
If I set up a new replicate completely called
maf_res_people between
ec_mafdata_dba_wlg and
res_prod_rep_wlg
it works
ok
Is this a good or bad thing to do ?
