Use of comp.databases.informix

I have observed over many years that there are few topics that are likely to get passions rising in this group than comparing Oracle and Informix (and possibly a few other lesser databases :-) ). But it never leads anywhere - and the value of the opinions expressed is often less than a television soap opera. Can I please request that those of you who want to spend your days wallowing in the merits or otherwise of different databases, languages should set up a different newsgroup. And leave CDI as the place to go when you really want to talk about Informix. regards Malcolm

There is of course no guarantee, implied or otherwise that your request will be granted. Note that due to a lot of traffic here on comp.databases.informix that is not Informix-only, your request has a less than 50% chance of being granted. Only after having gone through a committee and a thorough review of the bylaws and conventions, including possibly reviewing the constitutionality of such a request can it even be said that your request stands an ice cube's chance in hell. But do keep requesting. I encourage everyone to request these kinds of things in the hope that these kinds of requests will indeed be granted. It could make the world a better place for it, maybe solve world hunger, and may even contribute to ending global warming. It might even reduce internet traffic, in its various forms and nuances. But there is no guarantee to anything here, and certainly, with the utmost respect that your request deserves, life is not fair, and you may not get the answer that you hoped for. In that regard I wish you the best of success in your future endeavours, and too, my hope for you is to endeavor to persevere. Roll forward! Happy Holidays!
