Yes, we notice about a 30% performance hit by using dbspaces for this,
but then, raid5 (don't shoot me anyone, it managers policy), zip
on the temp disk I wrote to.
Problem is that the O/S takes a big hit aswell writing to a filesystem,
my recommendation, take the performance hit and write to temp dbspaces,
that way your machine doesn't grind when some idiot does something
evil because they are using a pretty gui and don't have a clue
