If you can find me a bug free product anywhere I'll
buy you a beer. Hell, I'll buy you two beers.
(Pencils don't count because sharpening them is a
bug, why cant they *know* when they're blunt!)
Knowing the undocumented fact that sysptnhdr
contains information that I would otherwise need to
use oncheck to access has sped up my management
of disk space by an enormous amount. I can now do
it on an ad-hoc basis without having to use
complicated unix scripts in batch mode.
I want to know *more* about this kind of stuff not
less.

OK, I too sniffed glue as a child and hence I have a
warped perception of what should be documented.
I think Dave's point is that some of the stuff is there
to help the internals people solve some bugs, but
has no revelance in the *real* world.
Personally I would prefer to have a *BUG* Free and
working product, rather than some esoteric crypted
message over documented.
I mean, with what is documented, you should be able
to tweak enough from the engine. I think that if you
need that extra
1/10 of 1% performance gain, then U B in trouble.
Think of it as a problem facing fighter pilots in the
80's. Too much information is a BAD thing.
