The behaviour is in both cases correct (or maybe not). ODBC does not know any serials so the datatype is converted to a number. ODBC 2.5 does not know any exact numbers (decimal,numeric) so again a standard conversion is used to represent the number without rounding. Of course the apllication could then interpret this string again.. BTW upcomming ODBC 3.0 knows decimals (they are represented by a C struct) .
